"Ask me to show you poetry in motion and I will show you a horse."
About me
Hi
After a lifetime of working with thoroughbreds and for the last 15 years as a respected bloodstock agent, I decided last year to study to become an Equine Sports Massage & Rehabilitation Therapist, after always being very interested in the various therapies to help a horse's wellbeing. At times the studying and assessements were tough as I had periods of being unwell with my mental health and neurodiverse disorder, but I was determined to make it and after many months of studying, assignments and a vast amount of hands on practice I was thrilled to qualify with distinction. I am now a fully qualified therapist, fully insured and an IAAT member.
Massage treatments & therapies helping to keep a horse feeling at his best
I carry out treatments to suit each individual. I provide routine/maintenance massage with additional work if your horse needs that little extra help. Pre/post competition treatments I can carry out at shows and clinics and before or after lessons if required. These are shorter sessions for stimulating the circulation in pre competition sessions and relaxing sessions on the large muscle groups to aid in easing any stiffness and aiding in prevention of a build up of lactic acid in post competition sessions.
I feel it a privilege when I'm working on these beautiful athletes, especially when they may be feeling some soreness, tightness or recovering from injury. Hands on massage allows me to feel and find spots that may not be obvious straight away. I work very quietly using various techniques to suit the individual, whether its sports massage techniques, myofascial release or a combination. When a horse guides me to the areas they really want treated it is always an honour to have their complete trust and to allow me into their own space.
Kinesiology taping benefits include promoting healing and iimproving circulation
Besides my hands on work, I can provide Kinesiology taping. This is an excellent treatment to support and aid muscle recovery and promotes healing. the tapes can be left on for up to 3-5 days and horses can be worked as usual without any restriction. The tapes have a number of benefits including increasing the blood and lymph flow as the skin is lifted and tissues are decompressed, improving circulation.
Photizo light thereapy will be something I will be able to combine in a treatment for horses recovering from injury muscular issues.
My work as an equine therapist will work well alongside being a bloodstock agent and I look forward to welcoming new clients from all areas of the horse world from your retired best frients up to dressage, showjumpers, eventers and or course racehorses.
I'm based in Somerset and cover the south west and surrounding counties, but I am happy to travel further afield for group bookings.
I look forward to meeting you all.
